Great friends making memories for 40 plus years.

Pros: awesome location, lots of space to hang out and relax, good restaurant options close by, floors and bathrooms were clean, the A/C units kept the house COLD, check in and out was super easy
Cons: water from sinks and showers smelled like egg, WiFi was not always reliable and doesn’t reach the back rooms, a good majority of the bed sheets and towels were stained, washer didn’t work, one of the refrigerators slightly leaked

We have rented different beach homes from Letha and Bluewater for decades. It has always been a good experience. You will be glad you contacted them.

It is always a great experience at the Big Kahuna. The 2 orange chairs need to be replaced. Otherwise we have rented it every year, since it was first built.

Beautiful weather to celebrate the new year

We rented this cabin primarily for its size for a military reunion. 14 bdrms with attached baths are hard to find. We found the price to be very reasonable for the venue. The cabin has some places where it could use some care (minor things) but it was clean and fully stocked with a multitude of kitchen items. Being right on the beach was a major plus. We plan to hold another reunion here again.

Another vacation in the books!
I've stayed with Bluewater for several years, and once again they did not disappoint. The Big Kahuna is ideal for large groups, we had a total of 23 in our group, and everyone was comfortable. What I love about this property is that all of the bedrooms are on the same floor. There are no additional stairs to climb once inside. Any concerns that came up were quickly addressed by the mgmt staff. My group cannot wait to come back for our annual getaway!

This year is the first time we had cars parked behind ours that were owned by beach goers....just parked for us to deal with...with no sign to Tow Away. We had to go to the beach and locate the owners to come and remove their cars...

Our first time to stay at the Big Kahuna, but we have rented from BRRI for several years. We held a family reunion for all children and grandchildren, 28 total. Overall, the house was great and A/C worked very well. Plenty of space to meet together and have a good time. Beach was close and lots of fun for everyone. Everyone was happy with sleeping arrangements and bathrooms. Enough room for all. House was clean and well kept. There were two minor issues: refrigerator had a broken shelf and a leak; and 2 chairs were wobbly. Everyone wants to come back to the Big Kahuna for the next family reunion. Well worth the expense. We had an offshore fishing experience, went roller skating and attended museum plus fun at the beach.

We have been renting the Big Kahuna since it was first opened. Prior to the Big Kahuna being built, we have been renting your other properties for the last 10
+ years. The front office has always been professional. They keep you informed and always helpful. Especially Lethia. Otherwise everyone enjoyed the Big Kahuna. We are already signed up for next year 2024.

The overall stay was good which is why we've returned 3 times to host a retreat here. The downfall is better water pressure and to fix the leak under the house. It was discovered while a group of our guests were standing outside near the front of the house when water started pouring from under the house. We are assuming this happens when a certain shower is being used in one of the rooms with a private restroom inside. There were also some old hairs on the floor in some restrooms apparently from when mopping.

We have been renting this particular beach house for many years.Due to our large family our options for a house that is big enough was not glad the Big Kahuna is around for us!

Really enjoyed the individual bedrooms and NO bunk beds. It is a great property. The house does need a working water filtration system. The water is not good. They do not provide ANY basics which is fine, but you need to be aware to bring it all. Everything else was great.

This was my 11th year in the Big Kahuna for my annual beach retreat for 23 ladies. It is the perfect house and I can't imagine doing my retreat any where else.

We had a good time only a few minor problems with the Big Kahuna.

We stay same time every year. It's the perfect place to unwind, relax, enjoy with friends and make memories!!!

This was our 25 th year with Brennen/Bluewater .... First time in this house . The house suited our growing family. Generally everything worked, rooms were large and accommodating. One bathroom was not cleaned properly when we arrived, previous renters left a mess. We ate at favorite places .

Once again, truly enjoyed!! This is our second time renting this beach house and it has NEVER let us down! We have already booked it again for another visit!

Totally enjoyed the house. It is equipped with everything we needed. I rented the house in 2012 and was pleasantly surprised to see how well the house has been kept up.

I have been renting since the early 1990's.Although I will continue to rent I have found the last few years have given me pause.I care about Brannan Rentals and leave them as clean as I can always.But I truly think the cleaning crew has not been doing that great a job in recent years. I believe that the Big Kahana could use a thorough deep cleaning throughout this big house.Alot gets overlooked or just plain not done. Every year I turn in a note stating what needs to be fixed.I did not do this upon leaving this year.I plan to call though and will not deter me from further rentals but I believe the people who rent have a responsibility for cleaning up after themselves but that the cleaning crew also must be counted on to make things safe and sanitary for the renters of the various properties.

My family and guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We have annual get togethers at Surfside during the Memorial Day weekend and this is the biggest house we rented. There was plenty of space for everyone. The only 2 things I would like to see changed are better serving utensils and the cable boxes fixed. Only 3 of the TVs worked during our stay. Overall the best beach house rental I’ve had and I would definitely rent it again!

House overall great. But if property not rented out for a lengthy time someone should go run the water faucets. The smell of the water was horrible. And under cabinets in kitchen and restrooms and pantry need to b free of dead roaches and bugs. Inspect covers for ANY stains even if been washed and be wise and not used on beds. Also voluntarily compensate the renter if something is KNOWINGLY not working (such as the dishwashers)

Our stay was such a blessing! The staff especially Ms. Letha, were so kind from start to finish. The house was beautiful and in wonderful condition. The location is great!

This was our first time at Big Kahuna and we definitely recommend it for large family vacations. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy various activities daily. We did notice minor needed repairs though nothing that affected our stay. A bridge or path to the beach would’ve been preferable due to child safety considering traffic in/out of beach. Overall we were pleased as usual with our choice.

We have used this rental for the past 5 years and it is great for a girls getaway retreat. It is spacious and has great areas to scatter out for visiting. The only thing I can be a little critical of is that they need new dinnerware so that you don’t have to use paper goods at every meal, we usually have 28-30 and there isn’t enough plates to go around or bowls. The other thing we observed was a leak under the kitchen sink, it had a big bowl under it, that filled up and could have overflowed had it not been checked, that really needs repair and one bathroom also had leak under sink area. The bedspreads could use a wash or replaced in some of the rooms. For the cost it would be nice to have things well maintained so guests don’t have to deal with repair issues. We would chose this rental again I will say, because of the size and location. It is a great place to stay overall! Thanks!

Can't get enough of the Big Kahuna!

We love Surfside. We have rented from BRRI for many years. My favorite thing is coffee on the balcony at sunrise and or sunset. Even though it rained on us for two days...there was plenty of room inside. There’s plenty of room for cooking, visiting, games, and celebration! Our last day there was beautiful...we didn’t want to leave! (But the mosquitos were ridiculous!).

The staff has been very helpful over the years and overall the houses are clean.I only have one complaint.We are not fans of the linens and towels provided.We much prefer bringing our own and although I understand,I prefer bringing my own linens and avoid that rather large fee for having to pay for cleaning and use of them.The towels are rough and the sheets are like laying on sand.

Enjoyed my family that weekend

The Big Kahuna is the place to be. We come here every year. Our kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends love it. The house is big enough to accommodate everybody. The Big Kahuna has easy access to the beach and convenient stores. They also have rentals for jet ski and boat rides. We would definitely recommend the Big Kahuna to all of our family and friends.

Our company has rented this beach house for several years now. We have always enjoyed our stay, plenty of room, lot's of seating areas, always ready on-time when we arrive. We absolutely love this house, it accommodates so many and has everything needed.

Great place for our church beach retreat! It has so many great features for a large group. Large living area and kitchen, plenty of room for everyone. We had a few operational issues, but they were quickly and immediately resolved with smiling people to help with it! Great job staff and maintenance crew!

We love this property! We return every year for a leadership retreat and will continue to do so. The location is great for the activities that we participate in - especially reflection and meditation. The property management company is very accommodating!

We have been coming to Surfside for our family reunion for 25 years. We've always enjoyed the home we have rented, but the Big Kahuna offers us the most space for our large family. There are enough bedrooms and bathrooms to keep everyone happy!

First class accomodation for large gatherings. My family loves staying at the Big Kahuna. The management staff is great to deal with.

It was a fun family vacation. The house accommodated as well. Lots of room for people to have their space. We do believe there are minor things that could be done. Mostly just upkeep. The staff at the office was always friendly. We have been coming to Brannan, Bluewater resort for 49 years. Thank you for listening and just a refreshing of the house but be nice.

This was our 18th consecutive year with this rental company and they have been great to do business with. We stayed in the Big Kahuna every year since it was available and it needs some maintenance issues corrected. This location was better before they opened the access next to the property. Over the years the cleanliness of the beach has become worse as at one time they graded the beach frequently which is a city responsibility. One would think the revenue the city collects would be used to at least remove the sea weed. The city used to care for the beach and still patrols it but last year we had our canopy stolen and they really did not even care. The city would get an F compared with years in the past.

Property was clean and everything in order. The only problem we encountered was not enough dishes for our group of 28. AC works well, however some vents were closed which made some rooms warmer. Minor problem and those staying in the rooms figured it out, so check the vents if too hot or cold. Nice comfortable place for our ladies church retreat. Would really like it if they had a big screen TV in main room, for playing DVD's. All in all a great place for big groups to stay and beautiful surroundings.

Our Family has stayed at Surfside beach for many years. We have been staying at the Big Kahuna since it was built. It is a wonderful place for family gatherings. The house also has a room which is ADA accessible. This is a plus if you have someone that requires a wheelchair. The House is beautiful and the property management company is always helpful with any questions or needs that may need to be resolved. I highly recommend The Big Kahuna. We are already looking forward to our stay next year.

We rented this house for a family reunion and it was perfect. Our family absolutely loved everything about it. We will be repeat customers for sure. The house was awesome and the staff was very helpful. I only wish i could have brought my poodle along but i found a dog sitter close by.

We had a great weekend at the Big Kahuna house in Surfside. The house was great for our large group. Very fun and so close to the water!

overall we had a wonderful time as always, looking forward to next year.

Our experience at the Big Kahuna was great. The house has direct access to the beach (which was quite nice), and was very clean upon arrival. We checked in on time, and the AC worked very well to keep the large house cooled. 22 people slept extremely comfortable, with no two people sharing a bed.

We set up a beach Olympics with 6 games on the beach, and had a great time. We catered food from local restaurants, and cooked out using the charcoal grill a few times. One thing to note; if you're having anything shipped to the address, send it to the management office (only 1 mile away) or give specific instructions for delivery, as there is no mailbox.

The owners provided great customer service. I would recommend this property for family reunions, and work events.

We have rented from Brannan for over 20 years. Needless to say we were very disappointed with your company. We have rented the Big Kahuna the last two years on the same week and where is customer service? If we would have received a phone call or email we would have got it for 2017 and paid our deposit. Needless to say we will have to go somewhere else next year for our 50th year reunion of going to Surfside.

We had a wonderful experience using this beach house for a leadership retreat. The accomamdations were clean and comfortable. Perfect location for a retreat!

We (10 - 12 couples) get together every other year and celebrate/party at the Big Kahuna for the SuperBowl it's a safe zone. No one has to drive home, just lay down and go to sleep. The beach is a bonus, especially when the weather is as beautiful as it was, this pass weekend. We've being doing this since 2007, we absolutely love the house. It has all the amenities needed, WIFI and Kitchen (enough space to feed all 22 of us) another bonus. The pictures are the true thing and more!!!!!! We will continue our tradition on and on..........DR

This was a wonderful house for our women's beach retreat. 29 women very comfortably sat together in the large living room. All bed rooms were well decorated and the beds were comfortable. I highly recommend it. A Q tip clean would have made it a little more perfect. But it was defiantly a 4 star experience.

We love our weekend stay at Surfside beach. This our 12th family and friend union. Our vacation rental is always something that will be cherished many years to come. We have good food, laughs, performances, games, relaxation and tons of social talk. We look so forward to many more years celebrating our reunions with Brannan Resort Rentals.

This was our 23rd year at Surfside. We've enjoyed a variety of properties, but Big Kahuna was by far the best. Plenty of bedrooms and bathroom for our 36 guests.

We enjoyed our stay at The Big Kahuna as we have s number of times in the past. With our four kids and nine grandkids as well as my brother and several friends of our grandkids, we used all the facilities in the house and didn't feel crowded. We have always enjoyed working with Brannan Resort Rentals for our needs. your service is great.

Our visit last week was the 17th year we chose Surfside and our 16th year with Brannan rentals. WE have enjoyed the professionalism of Brannan and reliability of their service. This year the beach was the cleanest and the water was the clearest we ever experienced.The only negative this year was the loss of power on the 11th twice for several hours that was disturbing. In all previous 16 years we never lost power more than a few minutes. WE also have a large family and having the Big Kahuna allows us to spend the week in one house.WE were asked to make a list on things that needed repair which we did. Brannan tries hard to make sure you are satisfied.

We used this property for a leadership retreat. The space was very comfortable and accommodating - and beautiful! Easy access to the beach and we loved the large porch area for meals. The kitchen was clean and we were able to fit our group of 30 without any difficulties. We will definitely return next year!
